Oakland Family Services welcomes Betsy Meter as new board chairman

The Oakland Family Services’ Board of Directors welcomed Betsy Meter as its new chairman June 4.

Meter, who joined the Board of Directors in 2007, previously served as vice chair. She is a managing partner in KPMG’s Detroit and Grand Rapids offices, responsible for the strategic direction and growth of KPMG’s Michigan practice. Meter also is a CPA in Michigan.

Meter received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University. Besides her involvement with Oakland Family Services, Meter serves on the board of directors and executive committee of the MICPA and is a member of the board of the Detroit Economic Club, Detroit Regional Chamber, and the Detroit Downtown Partnership.

Meter replaces Paul DeRoche as chairman of Oakland Family Services’ Board of Directors. Board members provide leadership, guidance and support at every level of the agency’s organization. These volunteers share their passion, experience and resources to improve the lives of others and ensure that Oakland Family Services’ programs and services meet the community's needs.
