Oakland Family Services’ events are opportunities to connect with our mission; network with our family of volunteers, donors and staff; and have fun!
We host a number of gatherings throughout the year, including:
Building Brighter Futures Tours, during which attendees visit the agency (in person or via an online format) to learn more about our mission, the people we serve and ways to get involved.
The Building A Brighter Future Breakfast, our largest fundraising event. Each spring, the annual breakfast provides a chance to reflect on the year’s successes and call for support from our community.
Building Brighter Futures 5K/1K Fun Run, a chance for community members of all ages to get involved and enjoy a variety of family-friendly outdoor activities.

Get a behind-the-scenes look at the work Oakland Family Services does by attending a Building Brighter Futures Tour! In one hour, you will hear from real clients, learn more about the agency’s programs and connect with our staff.
Recent events
Fall 2022 Donor Appreciation Event
We celebrated the generosity of our donors with an evening at beautiful Meadow Brook Hall. Guests enjoyed a short program followed by drinks, dessert and a tour of the historic mansion.
2022 Building Brighter Futures Fun Run
We held our second annual Fun Run at Waterford Oaks County Park in July! Everyone had a blast with 5K and 1K runs/walks, a petting farm, face painting, ice cream and more.
A Roaring Century: A Celebration of Oakland Family Services’ 100 years
Oakland Family Services’ 100th anniversary gala was a roaring success! Guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, music, entertainment and a raffle to mark the agency’s century of building brighter futures.
