GivingTuesday: Four Simple Ways to Make an Impact

GivingTuesday is a global movement unleashing the power of radical generosity.

On November 28th (and every day), you can make a difference and build brighter futures in our community by taking action in a variety of simple ways.

 

MAKE A DONATION

A GivingTuesday donation to Oakland Family Services helps fund programs that:

  • Provide safe and loving homes for children in need through foster care and adoption.

  • Empower parents to understand and support their children's development and give them the skills they need to nurture healthy family relationships.

  • Provide free, high-quality preschool that helps children at risk of educational failure enter kindergarten ready to succeed.

  • Care for the mental health needs of children, teens, and adults through treatment for depression, anxiety, family trauma, substance misuse, and more. 

To encourage even more engagement, consider sharing your contribution on social media. A small nudge like this can inspire others to join in, amplifying the impact of your generosity!

 

CREATE A FACEBOOK FUNDRAISER

Creating your own Oakland Family Services fundraiser on Facebook is a great way to involve your network in GivingTuesday.

Get started by following these steps:

  1. Create a new Facebook post and select “Raise Money” under “Add to your post”

  2. You will be prompted to select a nonprofit. Search for “Oakland Family Services”

  3. Share your fundraiser with your newsfeed or individual Facebook friends to start collecting donations.

  4. Facebook takes care of the rest!

 

SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER FOR ADOPT A FAMILY

Our Adopt A Family program provides donated gifts for families in need, allowing them to experience the joy and magic of the holidays.

Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring families receive their presents! We are seeking people to assist with gift pick-up and drop-off at our Pontiac office during the week of December 11-15.

Here’s how you can sign up:

  1. Visit our volunteer portal: https://ofs.rosterfy.com

  2. Create an account and complete your profile

  3. Navigate to the dashboard where you will see Adopt A Family 2023

  4. Sign up for a volunteer shift

SHARE YOUR #UNSELFIE

Spread the word about “unselfish” acts you’ve participated in this year!

To promote giving back to the community, we’re inviting you to share your #unselfie: a photo of yourself volunteering, supporting a cause, or completing an act of kindness. This is what GivingTuesday is all about!

Now through November 29th, post your #unselfie to Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn and tag Oakland Family Services for a chance to win a $25 Starbucks gift card! One winner will be selected at random on November 30th, 2023.
